Happiest baby on the block!

WOW! We must have the happiest baby boy! The day he turned one month old, we said goodbye to an unsettled, fussy newborn and hello to a smiley, silly boy. He just makes us laugh at all hours of the day (ok maybe mommy more so in the night). He is content all the time and when you give him one little glance, he goes crazy smiling and making baby sounds. Even when he's frowning or looks like he's about to cry, we can look at him and smile and he starts smiling and goo-goo, ga-ga'ing away! It is so sweet and refreshing to our spirits. God has not only blessed us with another child after losing our baby girl, but he has given us another easygoing, happy boy. I have said it, knocking on wood, that he is even easier than Cole was as a baby! I don't have to hold him all day long like I did with Cole and he naps without being held during the day! I couldn't be more thankful for his smiley self, he's making life with 2 living children a breeze!

Our newest love

Nathaniel Josiah Bardsley is here! He was born on June 12, 2013, at 11:43 pm, weighing 8pounds 3 ounces and 21 1/4 inches long. It was a huge relief for us as his parents to welcome him to our family and one month later we are enjoying our little blessing, and settling in to life with another baby at home.
During his first month, he was a very fussy baby having feeding trouble. Upon coming home to live with us, he lost about 1 pound and became quite jaundice. That first week was stressful as his mom and as a baby loss mom. I worried a lot about the thought of him needing to go back to the hospital. I did what was needed to keep him from that possibility, and by the grace of God, he is thriving and growing. Around 3 weeks old, he stopped nursing and spit up anytime I gave him a breast milk bottle. After more stress and anguish as his mom, and trying several things, I gave up breastfeeding. Although it was not my plan, our baby is much happier now. It can be hard to figure out what is best for your baby, but ultimately that is what they rely on you to do, make the best choice you can and love them lots.
When the one month mark rolled around, Nathaniel has become just a sweet, content baby, really only crying when he's hungry. So far his temperament reminds us of his big brother, Cole. He, like Cole has been very alert since birth. He's already rolled over and makes more and more happy baby sounds each day.
We love him a lot and are truly thankful for the gift of him in our lives'!
